Court Mediation Requirements - Texas

The Texas Alternative Dispute Resolution Act requires court-connected mediators to complete 40 hours of basic mediation training and an additional 24 hours of family mediation training for family dispute cases.

Before or after completing your mediation training, you will want to identify your local court or DRC (Dispute Resolution Centre) roster requirements if you intend to practice entirely or partially as a court mediator. The below tables provide some insight into basic court requirements for mediators in different counties and districts of Texas. You should use this information as a starting point in your research and contact your relevant local body for clarification and confirmation.
