Rod has a wealth of experience, having served as a senior police officer in London and Hong Kong for over 33 years. In Hong Kong’s bustling financial centre, Rod served as a highly commended detective superintendent leading fifteen teams comprising 83 detectives investigating some 250 of the most serious and complex commercial international fraud cases in Hong Kong’s history, with a strong focus on director’s fraud, money laundering, corporate governance, banking and stock market fraud. Backed with highly relevant academic degrees at bachelor and master’s level focussing on the psychological aspects of policing, statistical analysis of the science behind policing, computer security, crime prevention through environmental design, all with considerable practical application, as well as a law degree covering England & Wales and Hong Kong, Rod understands the complexities of commercial disputes intimately. Twice leading the classified secret witness protection unit, Rod is extremely sensitive to the complexities involved in the most sensitive issues surrounding litigation and dispute resolution from a highly operational and legalistically complex perspective. Running successful mentoring programmes for Oxford based charities since leaving Hong Kong prematurely (for political reasons) in 2018, the first charity he worked for awarded with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service in 2019. With two adult children, Rod has travelled widely and has abundant life experience from multiple perspectives.
